Opus 88 Koloro fountain pen blue

A relatively unknown brand in Europe is Opus 88. However, this Taiwanese company has been producing fountain pens since 1971, mostly with very elaborate Urushi painting and also on behalf of well-known Japanese writing instrument manufacturers. With this knowledge, Opus 88 has now set about producing a very modern fountain pen made with classic materials. The result is the Opus 88 Koloro. Like all fountain pens from Opus 88, this is also an eyedropper, i.e. a fountain pen that you fill directly with ink using a pipette. This means it has a very large ink capacity (well over 3 ml). In order to prevent the ink from leaking at the same time, the Koloro has a very simple mechanism: directly in front of the ink tail there is a seal that can be moved using a screw thread: If you unscrew the thread at the rear end of the fountain pen, you remove this seal and the ink can flow unhindered. If you close the thread again, the ink guide is sealed and you can only write a few words.

But the special design feature of this fountain pen is the interaction between acrylic and ebonite: both are mixed very specifically: all transparent parts such as the ink supply and the field of view of the nib in the cap are made of acrylic. All other parts made of ebonite or hard rubber. This feels pleasant. The two materials are all combined tone-on-tone, but still offer an exciting contrast.

The nibs used in this fountain pen come from a well-known German nib manufacturer and are made of steel. There are three nib widths: F, M and B. It must be clearly emphasized here that these nib widths are Asian classifications, meaning that for us Europeans these are more likely to be classified as EF, F and M nibs!

The fountain pen is delivered in a gift box with an accompanying glass pipette.
