Kuretake Co. Ltd. was founded in 1902. To mark the company's 120th anniversary, 6 inks were released whose colors reflect the history of Japan at the beginning of the 20th century.
With the advent of synthetic dyes, traditional garments such as kimonos also became brighter. The bright water blue was a very popular color for the geishas of the Shimbashi district for their kimonos.
