Kuretake Co. Ltd. was founded in 1902. To mark the company's 120th anniversary, 6 inks were released whose colors reflect the history of Japan at the beginning of the 20th century.
In the second half of the Meiji era, many traditional colors came back into fashion, which had previously only been very difficult to produce naturally, but were now easily available in synthetic form. One of these colors is Araishu - a red reminiscent of slightly washed-out true vermilion.
