The History of Paper & Pen
The Beginning
First physical store
Rather spontaneously, I turned my hobby into a profession and opened a retail store within 3 months. It was meant to be my ideal stationery shop, exactly the kind I would want to visit at any time. From the beginning, my focus was on Japanese design.
Over the years, I had to move the shop a few times because I was constantly struggling with space issues... after all, inks and paper can take up a lot of room!
A Night in Jodhpur
The first exclusive ink
This year I was proud to present my first exclusive ink: "A Night in Jodhpur" by Diamine. This made me one of the first shop owners to be allowed to enter into such an exclusive cooperation with Diamine.
Due to its great success, the exclusive music ink series with the three colours "Hey Ho Let's Write", "Should I type, or should I write" and "Lust to write" followed later. This was also a very successful cooperation with Diamine.
Big changes
Focus Online Shop
For all of us, 2020 was a year of many changes. It began with me being awarded the German Brand Design for the online shop. Good design and comprehensive content have always been important to me, as this was intended to compensate for the lack of advice from a brick-and-mortar store.
But it was also the year I had to close the physical store. Like so many fellow retailers, I had no other choice. Nevertheless, I continued to focus on the online shop and changed some of the technology. The fact that this was also recognized with a second design award - the German Design Award - felt really good.
New exclusive series
Finally an adult!
In spring, I celebrated with my customers the coming of age of my "Papier & Stift" baby. With over 2500 different inks, many paper brands, and probably almost all important writing instrument brands from Japan, Italy, and the rest of the world, the shop had grown immensely.
To mark the occasion, there were two new exclusive collaborations: with JOWO, we were able to present our new nibs with the beautiful elephant logo. And together with Robert Oster, there was another exclusive ink: "Gentle Giant" - a tribute to my always very patient office dog!
Kaweco x Papier & Stift
First exclusive fountain pen
For many years I had tried to launch Kaweco's first exclusive collaboration with a German stationery retailer. This year it was finally going to happen! The result is the Kaweco Sport x Papier&Stift - a small, tactile pen in my personal favorite color* with glitter!
And plans for new exclusive writing instruments are still in the works!
*my favorite color is an undefinable mixture of petrol and grey... ;-)
A New Chapter
Focus on fountain pens
As my many loyal customers have been able to observe for months, a lot has changed at Papier&Stift. But why?
I am no longer among the youngest, and last year I became a grandmother. Over the past 20 years, I have poured a lot of heart and soul into this business, often working a 7-day week. Now I want to become a bit more of a private person. Therefore, from now on, I will focus solely on fountain pens. And specifically, on my favorite brands: Japanese, Italian, and a few other brands that I have come to appreciate over the years.
To make it clear that this is not an end, but rather a new chapter, I want to emphasize this with a completely new design here too! Enjoy browsing!

Does Papier & Stift ship worldwide?
Yes, we ship worldwide. If you encounter any technical issues with selecting your delivery country, please send us a brief message.
Shipping costs depend on the shipping region and can be found in detail on our service page "Payment and Shipping".
Do I need to create an account to place an order?
Papier & Stift places great importance on data protection. Therefore, it is not necessary to create a customer account to place an order.
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
It depends a bit on where you live? We ship all orders within 2 business days. After that, it depends on the transit times of DHL. Within Germany, they need another 1 to 2 days. So, within Germany, we have a total delivery time of 2 to 4 days.
Delivery times to other countries can be longer, however. Generally, parcels arrive within a week. But especially if customs clearance is involved, this process can delay delivery.
What are the return policies?
All products can be returned to us within 14 days without further justification. Only a short message to us is required for this. After that, you send the goods at your own expense. You can find the exact conditions in the service information under "Right of Withdrawal for the Sale of Goods".
